Terms and Conditions

Ordering, reserving, and purchases

We currently do not offer a shopping cart on our site because we believe that in most cases our clients prefer to establish contact with us first before a purchase. We will happily place a short term hold on pieces if there is a particular map or maps that you desire. All maps are offered for sale provided they are still available.

If a particular map is of interest to you in the catalogues click on the link ???Ask about this item???, which will take you to an online email form where you can place your interest to hold, purchase, or request for more information. We do this on a first come first served basis.

Once an agreement to purchase an item is reached we will send you an invoice with the details of your purchase noted. Payment is expected within 7 days of receiving the invoice. Payments can be made in a number ways and can be accepted in Pounds, US Dollars, or AUD Dollars, based on our final currency calculation. Direct fund and international money transfers are preferred though money orders, Cheques and most Credit Cards can be accepted. Please enquire with us first.

When we have received final payment the purchased article can be couriered, posted, or picked up depending on your location and the value of the item. Shipping charges can be given upon enquiry for a particular article or will be detailed on the final invoice.

Authenticity Certificate

All items come guaranteed by us to be original and printed circa to the date listed. We do not individually sell reproductions or any modern copies. An Authenticity Certificate will be issued free of charge upon request.

Listing information

Though we endeavor to provide the correct information on all of our listings online, occasionally the information may be otherwise noted. When we receive contact from you in regard to a certain piece we will confirm that the relevant information in the listing is correct. We can also provide a more in depth condition report and more images. Sizes are listed for ???printed area??? (P.A), ???plate impression??? (P.M), and ???including margin??? (incl. M).

Feedback

We always appreciate any feedback you may have about the site and perhaps any suggestions you may have in making it even better. Any additional information you may have about pieces we currently list in the catalogue is also always appreciated.

For Love or Money?

Though the industry prefers not to push antique maps as just an investment their increasing value, especially in the case of many antique Australian maps can not be denied, however they are the best investment for those who can also appreciate their beauty and mystery.

For Australian clients there is an opportunity for those with a Self Managed Super Fund (SMSF) to purchase one or a collection of maps as enjoyable investments. As purchasing maps through your super fund does not allow you to display them we offer the option to have an exact copy of your purchase made to be framed and displayed. Though we do not sell reproductions, items purchased by a super fund are accepted. This is the only way a SMSF item can be displayed. The minimal fee for this service can not be paid for from the fund.

We currently offer the possibility for new and existing clients??? purchases to continue to be managed by us as we list them for sale. This is especially beneficial for extremely rare pieces.

Vault Storage

In most cases our clients wish to display the antique maps they purchase though in certain circumstances, because of security concerns among others they may desire to have them stored. Having items stored also meets the needs of Self Managed Super Funds. We offer the possibility of having your purchases stored in our underground vault facility in Brisbane (State Capital of Queensland ??? a thousand kilometres north of Sydney), Australia. The vault room is specially designed for storing valuable paper and canvas based artwork and is climate and humidity controlled. Fire retardation chemicals which are artwork safe are also built into the vaults safety mechanism.
